DIMAPUR, MARCH 6: The 8th Western Angami Assembly Constituency unit of NDPP has condemned what it alleged were acts of physical violence meted out to the staff members of PHED Water Reservoir at Kohima Science College, Jotsoma, on February 27 and March 4.
In a press release, it stated that on February 27, a car “which was duly a permitted vehicle of the candidate” was halted for hours by a group of youth at Kohima Science College, wherein the driver was beaten up and the vehicle with the other three occupants were released only after 4 p.m.
“On the midnight of March 4, 2023, around 1 a.m.-2 a.m., a group of people identified as Mr. Melie Nakhro and party had broke upon (sic) the gate and physically manhandled 9 persons, which include women and students, alleging them as responsible for the defeat of their candidate (Independent) and were asked to leave the area immediately”, the press release alleged.
It claimed that the victims’ mobile phones were snatched and damaged. One of the victims has been hospitalised and is undergoing medical treatment at a private hospital, it added.
Informing that the party has filed an FIR against both the incidents, it appealed to the authority concerned to arrest the culprit at the earliest and initiate necessary action.
