Dimapur, May 20: In a significant stride towards enhancing basketball coaching standards, the FIBA Regional Office-Asia, in collaboration with the Basketball Federation of India (BFI) and the Nagaland Basketball Association (NBA), successfully organized a WABC Level 1 coaching programme in Dimapur in March. The initiative, part of FIBA Regional Office-Asia’s ongoing efforts to develop mentors and aspiring coaches, saw participation from 15 individuals, including 8 promising coaches from Nagaland.
The weeklong programme featured comprehensive classroom sessions coupled with practical on-court training. The blend of theoretical and practical instruction was designed to equip coaches with necessary skills and knowledge to enhance their coaching efficacy.
All eight coaches from Nagaland-Salew Kadete, Chumbenthung Humtsoe, Sharman Lama, Reena Rai, Imyangluba Lemtur, Marshal Pashel, Rolio Z Lohe, and E Rainbow Patton successfully completed the course. Salew Kadete, Chumbenthung Humtsoe, and Sharman Lama achieved “excellent” results.
“We are very proud of their accomplishments and extend our gratitude to FIBA Regional Office-Asia and BFI for conducting this vital program in Dimapur. We are confident that the knowledge and skills gained from this course will provide a solid foundation for their future efforts in advancing basketball coaching at both local and national levels,” said the Nagaland Basketball Association in a press release.
