7th Nagaland Spelling Bee C’ship on Sept 27 & 28


Kohima, August 27: The 7th edition of Nagaland Spelling Bee Championship jointly organized by Fountain Club Kohima and SCERT Nagaland will be held on September 27 and 28 at capital convention centre Kohima under the theme “The Learning Edge”.
Making the announcement during a press briefing, SCERT Director T. Sekhose said the event is a co-scholastic opportunity for the students, which is also a platform, for the students to come together in the atmosphere of friendly rivalry.
He said an important aspect of the competition is interface between the government and private schools students, which hardly happens. He therefore encouraged the government schools students to part take in the event.
Convenor of the event, Medo Yhokha highlighted the activities of the club and said the club had earned accolade over the years and were also trying to improve to take the activities forward.
He said for the 7th edition, the competition will be held for the students from, class 6 to 10 adding that two students from each school can participate in the event.
Yhokha said altogether an amount of Rs. 1.59 lakhs cash awards have been earmarked for the different categories of winners while an added attraction will be the Young Speller Award 2018.
He said the winner will receive cash of Rs. 60,000, runners-up Rs. 40,000, third-place Rs. 20,000 and fourth Rs. 15,000 respectively, all with trophies and citation while the four losing quarter finalist will receive an amount of Rs. 5000 each with citation. The young speller awardee will receive Rs. 4000 and citation.
The organizers have invited all the schools in the state, both government and private to participate in the competition while also informing that interested participants can download forms from their portal www.fountainclub.in and also avail from all DIET centres in respective districts and from the government and private school associations.
