7-point resolution on Naga issue displays MLAs’ commitment: NDPP

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 21: The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has contended that the recent NLA resolution on Naga issue speaks volumes of the commitment of the legislators who have risen above party politics in the greater interest of the people.

A press release from the party on Sunday appealed to the MLAs to ensure that the 7-point resolution is taken up in letter and spirit.
It also stated that the Chief Minister of Nagaland and the PDA government need to be lauded and congratulated for passing a “visionary and path breaking” budget for fiscal 2021-22.
“The special impetus on infrastructure development, innovation and creativity and focus on youth empowerment is commendable and needs to be appreciated by all sections. The budget indicates that the government is constantly strategizing on new ideas and policies to usher in a new era of economic growth and employment generation. Even as we continue to battle the COVID-19 pandemic, the government has undertaken a herculean exercise in ensuring that all sectors have been adequately covered by the budget and the NDPP is confident that the PDA government under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio will continue to deliver to the people justice, development and good governance despite the financial constraints the state is going through,” it stated.
Also, the party congratulated NLA Speaker Sharingain Longkumer for ‘successfully concluding’ the NLA session. Though a first-time member and young in age, his command of the House and his conduct of the session has been second to none, it stated.
