6th Athlitika Kai Festivporium

Dimapur, March 7: The opening ceremony of the 6th Athlitika Kai Festivporium Meet 2023 with the motto, “Citius, Atitius, Fortius” was conducted by the students of St Joseph University on March 6, organized under the supervision of the St Joseph University Students’ Council and hosted by Dr Patrick, Department of Economics & Dr Alemmenla Walling, Department of English.
The ceremony began with an invocation by Rev.Fr. Augustin, MMI Representative (SJU) along with a welcome speech by Stephen J Kithan, President,(SJUSC). A special performance was presented by Among & Imkumlila (Department Of Psychology and Counselling), followed by a Felicitation by Dr Gnaadurai, Vice-chancellor of SJU to welcome the guest of honour, N Jacob Yanthan, Additional Director of Agriculture, Government of Nagaland
Jacob Yanthan lauded the contributions of St. Joseph University towards an economic up-swing and for providing better learning experience and quality education to the students in the State. He also expressed his outlook on the significance of games, sports and cultural events and how it plays a major role in the academic development of a student asit enhances the growth of co-curricular activities.
He further mentioned how Games, Sports and cultural events bring togetherness and directional positive values which will ultimately create unity, coordination, cooperation and connectivity which will result in confidence, strong feeling and kindness which remains instilled in an individual.
He added that Games and sports keep a person alert, smart, obedient and disciplined and encouraged how every student must participate in extracurricular activities along with their academics.
He concluded his speech by saying that sports provide sustainability for us to live presently and live further as it helps us explore our actions into reality which are self-determination, commitment, obedience, healthy lifestyle and hardworking.
Oath-taking and Torch lighting ceremony was enacted by Nitoli Shohe (Assistant Games and Sports Secretary) along with Ashu C Yimchunger (Games & Sports secretary).
The programme concluded with the lighting of the torch and unfurling of the Flag by the Special Guest followed by a benediction by Rev. Sr. Arockia Mary,(DMI) Dean of Administration.
