Zale encourages sportspersons to continue pursuing their goal
Kohima, May 10: The three-day 6th edition of Agape Cup, a National Christian Football Championship organized by Sports Coalition of India (SCI) and hosted by GethemGo Sports International (GSI) commenced today at Indira Gandhi Stadium here.
Altogether 11 states -Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Jharkand, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Odisha, Tripura, West Bengal and host Nagaland are participating in the tourney which will conclude on May 12.
Gracing the inaugural function of the tournament as the special guest, Advisor for Youth Resources & Sports Zale Neikha said that Agape Cup is not only for promotion of football but a promotion of Christianity across the country through unity in sports.
The Agape Cup is to bring players from across the country and to encourage, disciple and make them understand that life goes on beyond football.
“I believe that the goal for each player must not be limited to win this trophy alone but it should go beyond and endeavour oneself in becoming a national and international player under the guidance of our Almighty God,” he said.
The Advisor said that disciplining oneself is one of the most important things for a sportsperson as it will help them to focus and attain the ability and be a winner.
It is also equally important for sportspersons or players to maintain a balanced and proper diet, he said.
He also encouraged players to continue playing throughout all seasons and not to be mere players for one day or week or season.
As players, one must love the game they play, he said adding that “by doing so, you will begin to enjoy the game and also live a healthy life through your passion.”
