64th KVSA Meet from January 6 to 11


Kohima, January 2: The Kohima Village Youth Organisation (KVYO is all geared up to host the 64th KVSA meeting from January 6 to 11 in Kohima.
Briefing media persons at Kohima Local Ground here this evening, organizing committee convenor Medozhatuo Rutsa along with secretary Vitsu Yhome and member Kethosietuo Elvis Mepfhuo said altogether 33 different events including 26 in Athletics, six games and wrestling comprising of 114 medals will be held at three locations.
Around 400 sportspersons will be competing for a total of 45 gold, 45 silver and 24 silver medals, he said.
All the 33 Athletics event along with the Football for men will be held at IG Stadium while Volleyball and Basketball will be played at Local Ground Khouciezhie and Indoor games – Badminton, Table Tennis and Chess will be held at Indoor Stadium in Officers Hill.
Stag is the mascot while Tenyidie word ‘Adielo’ which is translated as ‘forgiveness, not to stand against one another or think about the welfare of others’ is the theme of the 64th KVSA meet, Rutsa said.
Like the last edition held in 2018, this year too, the inaugural ceremony on January 6 will be an evening show with denizens to have free entry.
Besides the marching in four khels of Kohima village, Pfuchatsumia, Dapfütsumia, Tsuotuonuomia and Lhisemia khels, the opening ceremony will be marked by special acts, music and arts with Kohima Village Council chairman Dr Neiphi Kire as the chief host. The show to be presented under luminous lights will last for more than 3 hours, he said.
Besides the medals, the overall cash awards for the winners in different events of the meet is around 4.5 lakh, including Rs 30000, Rs 20000 and Rs 10000 for the top three winners of Naga style wrestling.
The schedule of the events are:
Opening Ceremony on January 6 at 5:30 PM at Local Ground, Athletics on January 7 and 8 at IG Stadium. Rutsa said that an added attraction of the meet will be introduction of U-16 category of Naga wrestling which be held on January 8 evening at L Khel Stadium. Indoor and Outdoor Games on January 9 & 10 at three different venues while the last day on January 11 will be Naga wrestling followed by Closing ceremony at Local Ground.
