60th sports week

Pfutsero, October 12: The Government Higher Secondary School Pfutsero is organizing 60th Annual School Sports Week from October 11 to 15 with Kevileno Angami, Commissioner & Secretary School Education & SCERT Nagaland as guest speaker in the inaugural on October 11.
While addressing the teachers and students of GHSS Pfutsero, Kevileno Angami appreciated the school for been the exemplar school in the State. She also acknowledged the active participation of community leaders in school management which reflects the progressive nature of the community. She recalled how the community leaders sponsored computer lab for the school and said that such should be emulated by others as well.
Angami also said that high student’s enrolment at GHSS Pfutsero reflect the teachers’ commitments and dedication in providing holistic quality education and congratulated all the principal, teachers and SMDC members.
Kevileno informed the gathering that Government is making lots of efforts in sports and physical fitness. She also spoke on various activities under Fit India programme. She reminded the students that sport teaches us many life skill lessons. There are winners and losers in the games where we learn how to take things positively in life. She also reminded the students that sport teaches us to team spirit, been sensitive to others feelings, hard work, determination and respect for opponents. She urged the students to learn these valuable lessons from sports and apply in one’s life. She encouraged the students to be hard working, sincere and confident in life and said that it will help them achieve success in their lives.
She lamented on the issue of mobile games addiction been common amongst the young people and urged the students to be disciplined by cultivating healthy habits in life.
She also urged them to make time to play physical games and sports instead of spending time on mobile games. She spoke on the government focus to identify specialized sport for each district and said that there is bright future for developing professionalism in sports.
Earlier, Vechikhoyi Lohe, Principal GHSS Pfutsero while extending the welcome address thanked the Commissioner & Secretary for the Government approval in intruding science stream at GHSS Pfutsero and stated that it will greatly benefit the community. He informed the gathering that the school has 684 students enrolled in the school during the current academic year from classes 6-12.
Lohe said that annual sports week is always organized with passion to provide fun time for the teachers and students by including traditional games such as pole climbing, cart racing, wrestling and others. He also stated that the school is making every effort to provided holistic quality education to students however, shortage of teachers in the school has become a serious challenge and requested Commissioner & Secretary School Education to strengthen teaching staff in the coming days.
Rev. Dr. Kowepe Kanuo, Director Chakhesang Mission Society invoked God’s blessings for the programme. The programme was lead by Vepocuyi Ruho, GT (Science), Erepe-u and friends enthralled the gathering with special number ”Rise”. Vilunyi Movi,Phusical Education Teacher administered oath to the house leaders.
Later, Kevileno Angami, Commissioner & Secretary School Education accompanied by Dr. Kevizakie Rio, Joint Mission Director, Kelhikha Kenye, Deputy Mission Director Samagra Shiksha and Vitsolie Keyho, Junior Education Officer ( Physical) School Education inspected EBRC Pfustero, GMS Pfutsero Town, DIET and SDEO Office Pfutsero and interacted with the teachers and officials.
