6 teams in fray for 3rd Kohima Football League


Kohima, May 20: The 3rd edition of the Kohima Football League 2019 organised by Kohima Town Club will be held from June 8 to the 26th at IG Stadium, Kohima.
Six teams namely defending champions Sechü-Zubza FC, Vanguard FC Tseminyu, Khriekesa FC, Forerunner FC Thizama while two new entrants for the season are A. Yhome FC and Kohima Eagles FC.
The league will be played on single league basis where each team will get five matches totaling 30 matches for the tournament.
In this connection a meeting was held at Aurora Restaurant here along with the club’s representative today.
This edition, the prize money has been enhanced to Rs 1,20,000 for the champions along with running trophy and citations, runners-up – Rs 80,000. Two national referee will be called to conduct matches while with KTC local trained referee will assist them.
The club informed that the launching of the clubs jersey will be held on June 1 at 3:30 pm at IG Stadium, Kohima.
Open Penalty shootout on June 22
The Kohima Town Club will be organising it’s first Open Penalty shootout tournament on June 22 at IG Stadium Kohima.
The champoins will walked home with a cash prize of Rs. 50,000, runner’s up with Rs. 30,000 both with trophy and citations, and the individual award for best goalkeeper.
The entry fee was fixed at Rs. 2000 per team. The forms will be made available in the second week of June at Sports Paradise, Ruluo Market, Kezieke and Global Sports, Dr K.K Angami Complex, above Black Berry Kohima. (Page News Service)
