
Kohima, March 7: The 10-day long Sports Leadership School jointly conducted by GETHEMGO Sports International and Sports Coalition of India on the theme “Building Church Sports Leaders” commenced today at the KABA Jubilee Memorial Centre, Lerie, Kohima.
Church leaders, missionaries and players of different sporting disciplines from at least six states – Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura have converged in Kohima.
Speaking during the opening programme tonight, Project Director of Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA) Nagaland, Dr Hovithal Sothu said encouraged the leaders to have endurance.
He said in order to be effective leaders they need to have a clear vision to take others forward in a dynamic and energetic manner while also being future oriented.
He also told them to have a shared vision to keep the members motivated and have better understanding while also encouraging them to have determination to move on despite all odds.
Jonathan Detweiler from Church Sports and Recreational Ministries, America who would be conducting the sessions from tomorrow along with GSI Director Dr Viposa Kiso also exhorted the gathering.
Pastor of Peraciezie Baptist Church Kohima, Dr Kevichalie Metha chaired the programme while Chairman GethemGo Sports Society Hoshika Swu delivered the welcome address and Vinitoli Kappo enthralled the gathering.
During the training, sessions will be held on servant leadership, how to handle Bible, Pray, Play, Say, Sports event strategy etc. It will conclude on March 16. (Page News Service)
