5th Mokokchung Auto/MotoX and Moatsu Sprint 2019 underway

Yimchalu Village (Mokokchung), May 2: Twenty nine professional drivers from Northeast States and across the State have completed their first Sprint run at the 5th Mokokchung Auto/MotoX and Moatsu Sprint 2019 that got underway at Yimchalu Village, Mokokchung on Thursday.
The motorsports event is being organized by Adventure and Motorsports Association Mokokchung (AMAM), the three-day (May 2-4) motorsports event will witness drivers and riders compete for the podium finish in Auto/Motocross and Moatsu Sprint events.
Categories under Above 1300 CC, Below 1300 CC and SUV will compete in the Autocross and Moatsu Sprint while the motocross (two-wheelers) is segmented in two categories Novice and expert levels.
In Sprint events participant are given two runs covering a distance of 4.2 Km where the best clocked between the two runs will be tabulated with their autocross performance and today concludes Moatsu Sprint Run I.
On Day 2 (Fridays) Moatsu Sprint Run II will continue along with flagging off Motocross.
Earlier, a brief flag off programme was held where W. Manpai Phom, Additional Deputy Commissioner and Administrator Mokokchung Municipal Council was the special guest.
In his address, the special guest acknowledged the efforts of AMAM for being consistent in organizing the event on an annual basis thus entering into the calendar year as one of the major events of Mokokchung besides promoting tourism through this event. He also called upon the participants to participate in the true spirit of sportsmanship and further encouraged them to let the sports be the champion.
The ADC also applause the Yimchalu Village Council for declaring their village during the event as “Plastic Free Zone” and also thanked the Young Women Christian Association (YWCA) for providing free drinking water in order to support the village council’s declaration “Plastic Free Zone”.
The Village Council Chairman Yimchalu Wati Walling in his address welcomes all participants as well as spectators to the village. He also thanked the AMAM for selecting their village as the venue for the event for two consecutive years. AMAM President Imkongmar delivered the welcome address.
It is to be mentioned that Mokokchung Auto/MotoX and Moatsu Sprint 2019 is part of the Northeast Championship Ranking Round VI. (Page News Service)
