5th Inter-Ward Tournament at Chumoukedima from March 7

Dimapur, March 5: The Chümoukedima Town Youth Organisation (CTYO) in collaboration with Chümoukedima Town Council (CTC) is all set to organise the 5th Inter Ward Tournament from March 7 at Chümoukedima Local Ground under the theme “One Team, One Dream”. This time, the tournament would include two events i.e., football (for men) and volleyball (for women) and the total cash prize has been estimated to be Rs 1,50,000.
Informing the media persons more about it here at CTC Hall, the CTYO President Hovise Naleo on Saturday stated that while the total number of wards are 11 which would be represented by their respective teams, there would also be two other teams i.e., Chümoukedima Village Youth Organisation and New Chümoukedima Village Youth Society, taking the total number of participating teams to 13.
The chief guest for the inaugural ceremony would be Minister of Public Health Engineering (PHED), Jacob Zhimomi while the guest of honour would be class I contractor Kasheto Yepthomi. The ceremony would also be graced by Chairman of Chümoukedima Village Council Razouvotue Chatsu as special guest while DC Chümoukedima Abhinav Shivam IAS would be present at the closing ceremony as special guest.
Naleo revealed that the winner of the football tournament would receive a cash prize of Rs 50,000 sponsored by BJP National Vice President Dr. M. Chuba Ao while the runner-up would receive a cash prize of Rs 30,000 sponsored by former Chairman of Lotha Union Chümoukedima Nchumbemo Ngullie. The winning team of volleyball would receive a cash prize of Rs 30,000 sponsored by Dr. Esther Imcha of Chumu Dental Clinic while the runner-up would receive a cash prize of Rs 20,000 sponsored by CMO of Police Referrel Hospital, Chümoukedima Dr. Adaho.
Games and Sports Secretary of CTYO Vitouto Kuotsu mentioned that there would also Best Disciplined Team Award and individual prizes like Best Player, Highest Score, Best Goalkeeper, and Best Defender for football, while for volleyball there’d be an individual prize for Best Spiker.
Kuotsu cleared that the Inter Ward Tournament were being held earlier also, but this is the 5th tournament under the umbrella of CTYO. He informed that through the tournament, players are chosen to represent Chümoukedima and further revealed the plan to participate in the upcoming Dr. T. Ao Trophy as a district.
He stated that even after the tournament there would be selection and presently they are in the process of forming Chümoukedima Town Football Association.
The 6-day tournament, which happens once in three years and open to all, would conclude on March 12. The organisers noted, however, that only permanent residents of the respective wards are eligible to participate in the tournament.
