Nagaland News

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 13: Five persons, including 3 children, were charred to death when a fire broke out in Naharbari area of Dimapur Sunday night. All the deceased are members of the same family.
Around 50 families were affected due to the fire, sources informed.
According to sources, the incident occurred at around 10.45 p.m. on Sunday when most of the people were sleeping in their homes. The inferno quickly spread through the rows of thatched houses razing them to the ground in no time. The residents were from non-Naga community.
Officials of the Fire Department did not rule out the possibilities of the fire due to bursting of crackers, however, they said the exact cause of the fire would be known only after investigation is carried out.
As soon as the fire broke out, the Fire and Emergency Services pressed into action at least 6 fire tenders, which took nearly 2 hours to put out the flames.
Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased have been handed over to police.
