Dimapur, October 24: The fourth edition of Magnum Opus presented by Act of Kindness is underway here at Urban Haat, Dimapur. With 14 stalls and six categories, Adrian Mahung, member of AoK commented on the first day of the two day art & music festival that it has got bigger comparing to previous editions though in the morning of the first day, the visitors were not huge in numbers.
Interacting with the media fraternity here at Urban Haat, he expressed that the visitors will only increase and since the location is easily feasible, many people will turn up.
The attraction of the first day of the festival included workshop on poetry and fiction writing with Sentilong Ozukum (EAC Medziphema and writer), Mitra Phukan (writer), Dr. Srutimala Duara (writer) and Dr. Lanusangla Tzudir of Heritage Publishing House and Tialila Kikon (poet) as resource persons, besides art competition and live concert.
The judges for the art competition were Tunavi Achumi, Limasangwa Aonok, Buddhi Thapa and the judges for the live concert were Kekhrieringa, DJ Tali and Diethozothakro.
The cosplay contest will be the centre of attraction on the second day of the festival. This year, there are six different categories i.e., music, art, cosplay, poetry, story writing and photography besides seven workshops on different subjects. Many renowned personalities from the state and outside from different backgrounds are also part of the ongoing festival.
Different artists and photographers are also exhibiting their works in the festival.
There is a nominal entry fee of Rs. 50 for each visitor for which they are provided a wrist band at the gate and once entered in the venue, they can attend any workshop they want.
Magnum Opus was created in 2015 to create a platform where amateur artists would interact and share ideas with professionals and where artists could be encouraged to follow their passions. The organizers have also published a collection of poetries selected from the poems submitted by different poets in earlier editions of the contests titled ‘The Bards of Magnum Opus’.
The winners of the poetry and short story contests would get besides gift hampers cash prizes of Rs. 3,000 (first) and Rs. 1,000 (second) respectively. The winners of art competition would get cash prizes of Rs. 5,000 (first) and Rs. 3,000 (second) respectively. The winners of cosplay best costume and best cosplayer would get cash prizes of Rs. 10,000 each. The best live original performance will get audio and video sponsored by Richa Production and Rs. 10,000.
Organized by Act Of Kindness and sponsored by different individuals and well wishers, it will conclude on October 25 which coincides with International Artist’s Day.
