Dimapur, January 8: The Fourth Changki Students Union Conference-cum-Sports Meet was launched today with the inaugural program held at Orija Salang, Changki Village. It is a triennial four day event represented by Students Unions from Changki, Mokokchung, Dimapur, Kohima, Chumukedima, Mangkolemba and a Combined Team from Nokon, Merayim, Naronikum and Longnak. The theme of the event was “Rediscover our Identity”.
The curtain raiser was performed by Changki Students Union, Dimapur. The four day event will have workshop on Pottery, Hymnal Competition, Games and Sports and Talent Show.
Medemnokchala Jamir invoked God’s blessings for the program. Taliwapang Pongen, President of Changki Students Union welcomed the invitees and delegates on behalf of the Union. A word of blessings was conveyed by Lendimenba Amri, Chairman, Changki Village Council, followed by a song presented by Changki Students Union Mokokchung.
DGP Nagaland, T. John Longkumer (IPS), was the special invitee for the program. He made mentions of a galaxy of luminaries from Changki who blazed the trail in Changki history. He also stated that Changkians were able to accomplish much because of our wholehearted acceptance of Christianity and the pioneering work that the Christian leaders had done. He encouraged the youngsters to have dreams, to be determined and to have passion to reach the goal.
Dr. Tiasunep Amri, Associate Professor, Nagaland University encouraged the delegates to preserve our Changkian identity, culture and language.
The inaugural program concluded with a prayer by Rev. Imlila Amri, Associate Pastor Women, Changki Yimlang Baptist Church. (Page News Service)
