40 new cases push Mizoram’s COVID-19 tally to 3,647


Aizawl, November 22: Mizoram’s COVID-19 tally rose to 3,647 on Sunday as 40 more people, including 10 security personnel, tested positive for the infection, a health official said.
Serchhip district reported the highest number of new cases at 16, followed by Aizawl (14) and Lawngtlai (6), he said.
Six Border Security Force (BSF) jawans, four IRB personnel and three children are among the new patients, the official said.
Fourteen new cases were detected through RT-PCR tests, 18 through TrueNat and 8 through Rapid Antigen Tests, he said.
Twenty-two patients have travel history, while 18 fresh infections were detected during contact tracing, the official said.
Mizoram now has 485 active coronavirus cases, while 3,157 people have recovered from the disease and 5 patients, all from Aizawl district, have succumbed to the infection to date, he said.
The recovery rate among the coronavirus patients in the northeastern state now stands at 86.57 per cent, the official said.
Aizawl has so far reported the highest number of COVID-19 cases at 2,526, followed by Lunglei (303), he said.
The state has tested 1,40,073 samples for COVID-19 so far, the official added.
