4 Jackal puppies rescued from Doyang dam area

Dimapur, April 21: Four Jackal puppies rescued from Doyang dam area (Tzuza river), were handed over to Forest Department officials by the rescuers, Zanbemo Kithan former VDB Secretary, Jenithung Shitiri former Village Council Chairman, CEM Kyong Graduate Teacher GHS Sungro and Tumbemo W kikon Graduate Teacher GHS Sangro, all from Pangti village.
The rescuers informed that it was the right intervention as the mother abandoned the puppies which could be due to some animal attack that the mother Jackal did not show up.
For more than two weeks, the rescuers had taken proper care of the puppies as they were too young. In the last week of March, the rescuers found the puppies abandoned by the mother in an old burrow of a porcupine.
The puppies were handed over to Forest Department officials in a short interaction with Sungro GHS Class 8 & 9 students, where they were old about the importance of saving wildlife and forest for ecological coexistence by CEM Kyong Graduate Teacher GHS Sungro and Wildlife official present.
The Forest department informed that the rescued jackals were three female and one male, which would be transported to Nagaland Zoological Park Dimapur. (Page News Service)
