Dimapur, February 9: Dimapur Police arrested 4 persons identified as Abdul Latif (36yrs), S/o Abdul Malik V/o – Samorali Bazar P/S- Murazar, Dist – Hojai; Uji Ali (28yrs), S/o- Basu Ali P/S – Uriamghat, Dist- Golaghat; Nurzal Islam (35 yrs), V/o- Disgori Gaon P/S – Murazar, Dist – Hojai; and Tovi Chishi (33 yrs) V/o – Litsa, Dist – Zunheboto P/A- Diphupar ‘A’ colony for illegally operating an Inter-State Vehicle theft racket on February 8.
The modus operandi adopted by the gang was that on the pretext of hiring the target vehicle (mostly from Assam), the vehicle would consequently be snatched after serving the unsuspecting driver with soft drinks laced with drugs. The arrest was made after a driver from Dhemaji district on regaining conscious brought the matter to Niuland Police. The 4 culprits were consecutively arrested from Diphupar, Blue Hill station area, Dhobinalah and Lengrijan area.
In this regard 2 stolen vehicles were also recovered. (Page News Service)
