3rd Origin Fest 2024 held at Kohima Science College

Dimapur, March 8: In observance of the International Women’s Day, 2024, the Kohima District Administration in collaboration with the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Kohima took part in the 3rd Origin Fest 2024, Cultural Kaleisdoscope at Kohima Science College, Jotsoma under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) campaign.
Nuzotalu Atha, Assistant Professor, KSC Jotsoma, while delivering her welcome address she highlighted the cultural day as a celebration of the richness of religion, custom and tradition that shapes our collective identity. Following the welcome address a skit on the story of the Legend of Sopfiinuo was presented by the Angami Students Union, KSCJ.
Vimeno Kuotsu Nakhro, Advocate cum Panel Lawyer Kohima (DLSA) on her message on account of the International Women’s Day extensively discussed the Constitutional and legal provisions for the protection of women and girls in India and talked on length on the various sections, provisions and acts of the Indian Penal Code.
She also highlighted the availability of free legal services for women and children in the office and the provision of para legal volunteers in Kohima Law College, Kohima College and Sazolie College Kohima.
Moasangla Jamir, Vice Principal KSCJ in her message encouraged the audience to embrace diversity through music, games cuisines and story-telling. She underscored the importance of mutual respect and requested men folk to treat women in a very special way on this significant day, emphasizing the right of every women and girl to pursue her dream without limitations.
The program was chaired by Kenei Mary Terhuja with special number presented by Onulu Tunyi and KSCJ Choir.
The District Hub for Empowerment of Women, Kohima also set up a stall serve wherein informative brochures pertaining to DHEW,BBBP and PMMVY and T-shirts were distributed. (Page News Service)
