3rd Morning Champions Cup begins; Merhülietsa FC holds All Blacks

Kohima, September 3: The third edition of Morning Champions Cup (MCC) organised by the Morning Football Association (MFA) commenced at Seikhazou Ground, D Khel Kohima Village here today.
The one and half month long tournament will be played in group and knockout round basis.
MCC is held every year after Morning Premier League (MPL) where the relegated teams of MPL cannot participate in MCC. Keeping the motto of MFA – “Health and Friendship” through football, MCC is another such tournament where the players are all above 30 years.
Altogether 10 teams are competing in the tournament, which include defending champions All Blacks, who are also the reigning champ of 4th MPL, Merhulietsa FC, Morning FC, Amur Falcon FC, Morung United FC, Mustang FC, Ziekezou Seniors FC, GetThemGo FC, Kohima Ao Baptist Arogo (KABA) FC and Kohima Raiders (Kohima village).
Meanwhile, playing the inaugural match, defending champion’s All Blacks were held at 2-2 draw by former champion’s Merhülietsa FC.
Visakholie scored the two goals for All Blacks while Zakie netted the goals for Merhülietsa FC.
