Dimapur, March 26: Union Minister of state, DoNER & Co-operation Government of India, BL Verma graced the inauguration function of the 3rd Mon International Trade Fair & Expo 2023 as Guest of Honour on March 25 at Local Ground Mon Town. He was accompanied by K Konngam, Advisor Treasuries & Accounts, Art & Culture, Government of Nagaland, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Mon, Anuradha S. Chagti, Joint Secretary, N. Simte, Under Secretary, DoNER, Sekhar Dey, APS and Alok Rai, PA to Union Minister.
People of Mon town and Mon district welcome the Guest of Honour with their traditional attires. The minister said he was highly impressed to see the rich culture of Konyak Tribe.
He also said that under the enabled of leadership of Prime Minister, Ministry of DoNER, Government of India, will try to extend maximum possible support for the inclusive development of the remotest place like Mon.
While delivering Welcome address, Deputy Commissioner, Mon, welcomed the Union Minister along with entire team form Ministry of DoNER for sparing time out of busy schedule.
The DC also thanked all the participants, Governments officials, civil society leaders and all the invitees present. Further he informed that this 15 days event would concluded on April 8 and would have various programme and performance from renowned artists, singers, bands and other performers.
It will provide an outstanding platform to talents, artisans, SHGs and other participants form all walk of the life. He further requested for maximum participation.
During the short speech, the Konyak Union President thanked the Union Minister including entire team for gracing the occasion. He expressed his gratitude and thanks to District Administration led by the Deputy Commissioner, Mon for taking such a wonderful initiative to promote local products, brands along with cultural and traditional development.
He assured to extend full support to organizer and wish for conducting the event in a very grand and successful manner.
Other parts of the programme included, cultural performance by Leangha Village Cultural Troupe, Chi Sheko Khong Mon Town, Mon Chamber Choir, Traditional Song by KNSK, Bihu Dance from Assam, Cultural Dance by KNSK, A patriotic Song by Atzing Konyak.
