3rd Kohima Football League: Kezhose’s four goals help Vanguard to top league


Kohima, June 18: Considered to be the oldest player of the current edition, Kezhose Mathew struck four goals as Vanguard Football Club Tseminyu moved to be the toppers of the ongoing Kohima Football League played at IG Stadium here under the aegis of Kohima Town Club.
Out of the six legs, four concluded today with Vanguard FC Tseminyu humiliating United-16 FC 10-1 in the last match of the fourth leg.
Kezhose opened the floodgates in 24th minute followed by Yhunchalo increasing the tally to double in 29th minute while Kezhose netted his second and third for the team in the injury added time of the first half. Even after lemon break, there was no stoppage for Kezhose has added two more goals in 47th and 58th minute.
Notably this was followed with the face saver goal for United-16 FC coming through the boots of Tianuksung in 59th minute.
Nonetheless, following a brief lull, N Goal added the sixth goal for Vanguard in 73rd minute, Shamba found the seventh in 80th minute, Yhunshalo netted his second and eight for the team in 82nd minute, Sinenlo struck the ninth in 89th minute while Nighato sealed score board with the tenth goal in the injury added time of the match.
Winning today’s match with a huge goal margin has placed Vanguard FC on top of the league with 12 points among the seven teams Forerunners FC Thizama are second also with 12 points. Vanguard leads because of just a goal difference.
Defending champions Sechü-Zubza are in the third position with 6 points while Khriekesa FC are fourth also with six points. Two debutant teams Kohima Eagles and A Yhome FC are on 5th and sixth position with three point each while United 16 FC are yet to earn any point.
