Kohima, JunE 15: Debutants A Yhome Football Club earned their first full point while defending champions Sechü-Zubza faced their consecutive second defeat in the ongoing Kohima Football League organized by Kohima Town Club and played at IG Stadium here today.
In the first match of the day, A Yhome FC defeated Kohima Eagles 4-3. After the first two losses, A Yhome FC did start today’s match strong and found an early lead within the first nine minute through Vilhoubeituo Yhome but Kohima Eagles also didn’t lack much behind as their equalizer came in 19th minute through Müleyi Medeo to end the first half in 1-1.
But after the lemon break too, A Yhome displayed excellent combination to add three more goals through Keyidwasalpung in 53rd minute, Punuru in 55th and Vilboubeituo scoring his second and fourth for the team in 64th minute.
Kohima Eagles were not able to return to the game as they lacked team work but they did bring down the margin with Noulevituo Pienyü and Kevisanyü Peseyie scoring the second and third goal in 84th and 89th minute.
In the second match, defending champions Sechü-Zubza faced their second consecutive defeat of the tourney against Vanguard FC by 2-3.
Vanguard FC though were trailing with a solitary goal margin in the first half, returned strong in the second session with Matthew Kezhose scoring the much needed equalizer in 49th minute. Thereafter, Yhunshalo Kemp scored the lead in 59th minute and Sinlo Kent confirmed the win in 67th minute.
Nonetheless, Sechü-Zubza got a consolation in the injury added time as a defence handball inside the danger zone was awarded penalty by the referee. It was converted by Rhitsho Mero, but that too in the second shot as referee declared the first one void.
With today’s win, Vanguard FC has moved up to second position while Sechü-Zubza slipped to third
