Kohima, July 11: St Mary’s Higher Secondary School and Don Bosco HSS today booked their semi-final berth of the 3rd Kohima District Inter School Football Tournament played at IG Stadium here.
In an exciting third quarter-final match, St. Mary’s Cathedral HSS won against Mt. Carmel HSS 4-3.
St. Mary’s Cathedral scored a quick goal within 1.50 minute if the whistle through Tepevil but disappointingly own goal in 19th minute by Tonwang gave the rival the much needed equalizer while Zunio scored the lead for Mt. Carmel HSS in 28th minute to move the match into breather.
Nonetheless, after the lemon break Tonwang found the rival nets in in 43rd minute bringing St Mary’s HSS back to game and compensate his first half suicider. Thereafter, it was Tepevil scoring two more goals, the third and fourth for the team, in 44th and 51st minutes respectively to become the tenth hat-trick scorer of the tournament.
The 61st minute saw Mt. Carmel HSS minimizing the margin with the third goal through Razouvituo but failed to make further headway and conceded defeat.
Playing a closely contested last quarter-final match, Don Bosco Higher Secondary School defeated Ministers’ Hill Baptist Higher Secondary School 2-1.
Don Bosco HSS found lead goal through Khriesizo in 30th minute to end the first half while Ministers’ Hill Baptist HSS returned to the game through an equalizer from Toshiakum Ozukum in 68th minute but Rüguozetuo struck the winning goal for Don Bosco in the dying seconds of the game to book their semi-final berth.
Additional Director, Youth Resources & Sports, Rato Pusa witnessed today’s matches as the patron.
