Kohima, Oct 28: Come December in Kohima and one will not only enjoy the 10 days of Hornbill Festival of Nagaland, but Elite Entertainment Enterprise (3E) is gearing up to hold the ‘Kohima Hornbill Gala 2019’ from December 1 to 10 at Naga Solidarity Park, below New Secretariat Complex.
Announcing this during a press conference held at Capital Convention Centre here this evening, Managing Director of 3E, Kethosituo Elvis Mepfuo said the 10 days will have music, sports, entertainment, ethnic food and merchandise during day and night of the festival.
While funfair including ethnic food stalls, merchandise stalls, Ferris wheel & other fun rides, bouncy castle and movie night would be set up throughout, dates for Electronic Dance Music (EDM) and open air concerts are yet to be finalized, he said.
Competitions for kids of Class 8 & below in the form of solo singing and painting competitions would also be held at the Kohima Hornbill Gala, he said.
He also informed that interested entrepreneurs can approach the 3E Office at Dzevi Building, Opposite UBC Kohima to book stalls.
December 5, he said will have Naga wrestling championship for junior category (Under 17) and veteran category (above 40 years) with prizes as follows: Junior – 1st Rs 20000, 2nd – Rs 15000, 3rd – Rs 10000 and 4th – Rs 5000 while for Veteran – 1st – Rs 50, 000, 2nd – Rs 25,000, 3rd – 15000 and 4th – Rs 10,000.
Entry fee for juniors is Rs. 200 and veteran Rs. 500, he said while registration starts November 1 with last date of entry fixed for November 30.
On December 6 & 7, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) X1 Fight Night will be organized under the aegis of Mixed Martial Arts Association of Nagaland (MMAAN) and MMA India. Meanwhile, co-found of X1 International and Director of Tournaments, Khriemhalie Metha informed that the fights would be amateur but the main event would be between professionals.
On December 8 & 9, the annual Hornbill Half Marathon will be organized under the aegis of Nagaland Athletics Association comprising Half Marathon 21.0975 km for men and women, 9.1 km Great Hornbill Run for boys and girls Class 8 & below and one Special Lap for persons with special needs under the theme “Hornbill For All”, said Mepfuo.
The prizes for Half Marathon (21.09 KM) for both men and women are: 1st – Rs 50,000, 2nd – Rs 25,000, 3rd – Rs 15,000 and 4th – Rs 10,000.
Great Hornbill Run (9.1 KM) cash prizes (both girls and boys) are: 1st – Rs 10,000; 2nd – Rs 7,000, 3rd – Rs 5000 and 4th – Rs 3000.
All participants of special lap will receive gift hampers, he said.
Registration starts from November 1 till 30 for participants from within the state and December 7 for outsiders. Entry fee for Great Hornbill Run is Rs. 200 and Half Marathon is Rs. 500.
