Kohima, April 9: The 32nd Angami Catholic Youth Association (ACYA) convention under the theme “In your patient endurance, you will gain your soul” began on Friday at NAPO conference hall at Chiephobozou.
Hosted by the St Dominic Savio parish, the three day convention commenced with the unfurling of the ACYA flag by Rev. Fr. Vemedo Joseph Kezo, spiritual director of ACYA. This was followed by the presentation of the newly composed ACYA anthem.
With delegates from 59 Angami villages, the inaugural session was graced by Vikepelhou Lucas Meyase, former director School Education Department as the main speaker. Speaking on the theme, Meyase urged the youth to follow the principles of Christ.
He encouraged the faithful to show great endurance, to forgive one another and to lead others by example. Further, he challenged the youth to stand firm in their faith and believe in the word of god.
Addressing the gathering, Johnny Ruangmei, President of the Catholic Association of Nagaland (CAN) reminded the youth to reflect about the purpose of the formation of the ACYA. Saying that now is an appropriate time for the youth to have a bold vision, he urged them to retrospect the past and to also imagine its future.
Adding that youth has “power in their palms”, he asked the youth to ponder upon how technology can be used to strengthen one’s spiritual faith. Stating that the Angami tribe has a fair number of catholics, he urged the ACYA to be the torchbearers of the youth.
The Catholic Youth Association (CYA) Chiephobozou presented a special number. The first day of the convention concluded with the recitation of the Rosary led by Ruokuovituo Robert, Catechist, Christ the King Church Kohima. Earlier, a welcome note was pronounced by Zeneikho-o Benedict, President ACYA. (Page News Service)
