Mangkolemba ADC issues travel advisory

KOHIMA, FEBRUARY 14: Three people from Assam died in a vehicle accident when it collided head on with a Mokokchung bound Tata Sumo from Dimapur at Dhodar Ali, Mariani, on February 14.
The Tata Sumo, bearing registration number NL 02 T 2114, was on its way to Mokokchung when it collided with a Scooty, bearing registration number AS 03 Z 5886, on which 3 people from the same family were seated.
According to the ADC, Mangkolemba, Dharam Raj, who was in correspondence with SDPO, Titabor, through SDPO, Mangkolemba, after the accident said that a large crowd amassed at the spot where the Tata Sumo was parked and toppled it.
However, no passenger was in need of medical attention and no harm was meted out to passengers inside the Tata Sumo and the safety of the passengers from Mokokchung has been ensured.
SDPO, Titabor, informed that the passengers inside the Tata Sumo were safely taken to Mokokchung in a different vehicle at 2:30 p.m., ADC Raj said.
He also said that while the passengers have been given a safe passage to Mokokchung, the driver of the Tata Sumo along with the vehicle is being held under the custody of Mariani Police Station.
As soon as the accident took place, the situated turned tense with large gathering of people. However, normalcy returned by 4 p.m., as conveyed by the Border Magistrate, Tzurangkong, to ADC, Mangkolemba.
While the Assam Police are making all efforts to ensure safe passage of other vehicles bound for Nagaland, we have issued a travel advisory as a precautionary measure, he said.
In this regard, all Nagaland bound/originating travelers via Assam are advised to avoid taking the said route until the prevailing situation returns to normalcy.
Further, all the Mokokchung bound travelers may take the Golaghat-Merapani-Champang-Sonowal route to avoid unnecessary harassment in Mariani, Assam, ADC Mangkolemba said.
