2nd phase of BBBP launched at Mon, Wokha

Dimapur, January 21: The Mon District Task Force on Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao meeting was held on January 21 in the DC’s conference hall, Mon under the theme ‘Save the girl child: educate the girl child.’
DC Mon, Thavaseelan.K, IAS who chaired the meeting stated that Mon District has shown the second highest CSR as per 2011 Census with an alarming decline of 61 since the 2011 Census.
Lomei Konyak, President KNSK who also attended the meeting said that Konyak women are in full support and ready to help in any extent for the success of the campaign and entire KNSK unit will have awareness seminar on girls right. She said that Konyak women are skilled in weaving, knitting, beads making and handicraft and for this they need vocational trainings for girls and we should find outlets to sell the products.
In the meeting, the house resolved to have a ‘Girls Day’ every month which will be organised in schools and deliberations will be held to generate awareness about BBBP campaign.
The pledge of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao was also taken which was led by DC, Mon.
Street play to spread awareness on Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao was also organised by the district administration in the street of Mon town on January 21. Konyak Baptist Church, Mon Youth department presented a skit.
Wokha: Launching of planned activities for BBBP week cum consultative meeting of District Task Force (DTF)/BTF/Police and other key stakeholders was held in the DC’s conference hall, Wokha on January 21.
Deputy Commissioner, Wokha Dr Manazir Jeelani Samoon, IAS while releasing the planned activities of BBBP 2019, stated National Girl Child Day will be celebrated starting from January 21 till 26, where various activities and programme are planned to be conducted in the district as well as block level. He urged all to extend support for the success of the programme.
General secretary, Lotha Hoho S. Abenthung Ngullie emphasized on the importance of girl child and women in the society. He assured to extend all possible support from their end towards the success of the programme.
Nsungbeni, Local Champion, BBBP Wokha, shared her experience and achievements in support of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.
