2nd Nagaland State Futsal C’ship begins

Kohima, October 7: Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of Kohima District Sports Council, Shanavas C today kick-started the 2nd Nagaland State Futsal Championship at Reiphinyü Badze, Vürie, Kohima.
The three day championship is organized by Nagaland Football Association (NFA) and hosted by Kohima District Football Association (KDFA).
Addressing the eight participating district teams and the spectators during the inaugural function, Shanavas while expressing that Nagas have great potential in endurance games like football, badminton and table tennis, urged the players not to sit back and relax but rather work hard and make it to the national and international games.
He said that players can make it to bigger platforms outside the state with the collective effort of the district administration, state government and sports associations.
Expressing that athletes were some of the most disciplined people who maintain a healthy lifestyle, he urged the players to avoid tabacco products and maintain strict and healthy lifestyle.
Shanavas also urged the players to do their best and challenged them to gracefully embrace failures along with success.
Sharing the greetings, NFA president K Neibou Sekhose expressed happiness at the event being successfully organised by KDFA.
He informed that NFA would be focusing on the development of football by nurturing students in over 800 schools across the State.
He said that the new All India Football Federation (AIFF) team led by president Kalyan Chaubey, is working actively for the welfare and development of football in the country.
He added that football in the country is now headed towards tremendous development.
Medolenuo Ambrocia Loucü chaired the inaugural programme while invocation was pronounced by Youth Pastor of Minister’s Hill Baptist Church, Kohima Vimegokho Chüsi. Welcome address was delivered by KDFA president Mhasimhalie Matthew Yhome and a special song was presented by Mhasheseno Neikha.
In the first group match played today, Aphuyemi FC from Zunheboto beat Proper-V FC from Mon by 9-2, Nimok Power FC Phek beat Vanguard FC Tseminyu (6-4), Kesko FC Dimapur beat G-Sports FC from Chumoukedima by 4-1, Zasivi FC Kohima beat Lengreng FC Peren (8-3).
In the second group match, Aphuyemi FC (6-3) won the match against Kesko FC, Zasivi FC (3-2) defeated Nimok Power FC, Proper V FC (6-2) defeated G-Sports FC, and Vanguard FC (5-4) defeated Lengreng FC.

2. Nimok Power FC vs Langreng FC (12:40 PM)
3. Proper V FC vs Kesko FC (1:20 PM)
4. Vanguard FC vs Zasivi FC (2:00 PM)
