Dimapur, October 27: The 2nd Nagaland Fashion Week is all set to be held from October 30 to November 4 in Kohima and Dimapur, with the grand finale scheduled at Bamboo Resource Centre, Dimapur on November 4 from 5 p.m.
The event is being organized by Nagaland Designers Association.
Talking to media persons, the organizers said that three-day event will also see prominent lady personalities as ‘lady of the event’.
The organizers informed that the event Fall/Winter Collection under the theme “Evolve” will give platform to 3 categories of Designers, Emerging, Generation Next and Enthusiast. The first two days of the show would be held at Kohima and the grand finale in Dimapur.
Altogether 25 designers are participating in the event, who would showcase their designs.
The organizers said that the event is not for any trophy but to give platform to the budding designers to showcase their creativity and designs.
They said the youths are facing the problems of unemployment and such kind of shows can also help in solving the problem. They said the show would also build bridges between the local designers and the rest of the world.
Those who are selected would be allowed to participate in the finals and would also be provided job placements. In this regard, the organizers have done tie-ups with certain people so that jobs can be arranged for the designers.
Stating that all models are Nagas, the organizers disclosed that there are 40 models.
The Nagaland Designers Association was formed on November 6, 2011 but organized the first edition of Nagaland Fashion Week in 2017.
The organizers said that the NDA aims to book the brand value and commercial importance of the local fashion industry by initiating the development of modern techniques to produce texture and motif prints to revamp the contemporary ensemble into a refined, functional and comfort driven wardrobe, while also nurturing the best of local talents in the state.
They said fashion industry is the fastest growing industry in the world, which also offers huge employment opportunities and an avenue which can somehow solve unemployment problem.
The NDA also urged the state Government to come forward and help the Association in organizing the Fashion Week in 2019. (Page News Service)
