2nd KTC Cup: Sechü-Zubza and New Market to clash in final

Kohima, August 29: Champion’s of the just concluded Kohima Football League, Sechü-Zubza Football Club and third positioned New Market FC today won their respective semi-final match of the second edition of Kohima Town Club (KTC) Cup and set up the contest for the final match to be played on August 31 at Kohima Local Ground here.
Playing a closely contested first semi-final match, Sechü-Zubza FC, who were directly seeded into the semi-finals as the champion’s of KFL-2, defeated Twenty XI FC Viswema by 2-1.
Hanglen Chang scored in 23rd minute for Sechü-Zubza FC to lead the first half with solitary goal. However, Twenty-XI returned to the game five minutes after the lemon break through an excellent goal from Viho Kin.
But, the KFL champs managed to move ahead and score the winning goal through Aloumei Panmei in 73rd minute to book their berth for the final match.
Petevizo Kezieo, Viketoukho Miasalhou and Zeaneikho Miasalhou of Sechü-Zubza FC and Viho Kin of Twenty XI FC were cautioned for unsporting behavior during the match.
In the second semi-final, New Market FC knocked Vanguard FC Tseminyu by 4-2.
New Market, who are also the runners-up of the first edition of KTC, scored first through Kethozhapu Meru in 27th minute as the only goal for the first half. They doubled the lead within two minutes of second half through Menguzelie Rutsa while Vanguard FC managed to bring down the margin through their Yhunshalo Kemp in 50th minute.
But, New Market increased the tally to 4-1 as Menguzelie Rutsa struck his second and third for the team in 55th minute while Rhitsho Mero netted their fourth goal in 78th minute.
Vanguard skipper Kezhose Mathew did net their second goal in 80th minute but they failed to further materialize the last 10 minutes and conceded defeat.
Ketholetuo, Sinlo Kent and Kanan (13) of Vanguard FC Tseminyu were yellow carded during the match.
With their win in today’s matches, both Sechü-Zubza FC and New Market FC will clash in the final match on August 31 at 2:00 pm.
