Don Bosco, G. Rio and Loyola moves into QF
Kohima, July 2: Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, G. Rio and Loyola HSS Jakhama moved into the quarter finals of the ongoing 2nd edition of Kohima District Inter School Football Tournament at Kohima Local ground here.
It rained goals as a total of 20 goals were scored in the three matches of the day.
In the first match, Don Bosco HSS blanked Bethel HSS by 5 goals to nil. Mhasiletuo opened the account in the 23rd minute while Jewabu doubled it in the 26th minute. Lamthio, Akiheto and Thejangulie scored one each in the 48th, 61st and 68th minutes of the game. Runners-up of the first edition, G Rio came from behind to book a quarter final berth defeating Mt Carmel 2-1. Mt Carmel found an early lead through Hikato but Sevizo gave the much needed equalizer for G Rio in the 21st minute to end the first half 1-1. While both sides failed to penetrate into the rival zone, the injury added time of the second half favoured G Rio as Pelengulie Kire struck the winning goal.
The third match of the day was a lopsided one with Loyola HSS Jakhama knocking Grace School by eight goals to one. The match witnessed record scoring with Vinongol Luho opening the account in the first minute while Mecievi Khieya netted the second in the third minute. Keduhoto Zao increased the tally to four with his two goals coming in 12th and 14th minutes. Thereafter, Vinongol added two goals in the 26th and 31st minutes to end the first half 6-0 and also become the fourth hat-trick scorer of the tourney. After the lemon break, Grace School found a face saver through Akenyu in the 38th minute but Vinongol further increased the tally with his fourth and fifth goals in the 57th and 68th minute.
