Dimapur, September 11: The second book of Dr. Yelhi Vero titled “Naga Economy–Its Elementary Features” was today released by publisher of Morung Express Dr. Akum Longchari in a programme held here Hotel Acacia, Dimapur.
Describing the book as ‘wholesome in many ways’, Dr. Longchari on the occasion said the state needs more voices like the authors and such book should be read in schools and colleges, and for laymen and Naga entrepreneurs to understand the state economics, this is where they should start from.
Talking about the book, he said that it aptly points out the strengths of the state as well as the areas where it needs improvements besides showing the prospects for the state to move ahead towards progress. He called the release of the book ‘timely’ in the present context.
He also mentioned that the book talks in facts and figures rather than abstract ideas and shows what kind of future Nagas can have.
Previously, briefing about the book, Dr. Vero said that it took him four years to come up with the book and the subject of the book ‘economy’ concerns everyone and thus is important, particularly for the student community as it has been laid in the curriculum.
He said that the subject of Nagaland economy is a vast one and the book targets to present the basic features of its economy. He also added that the characteristics of demography, infrastructure, economic development, natural resources, human development, structural change, agricultural and industrial development are discussed in the book.
