28th General session of Secheku Women Welfare Society held at Losami

Kohima, April 22: The 28th General session of Secheku Women Welfare Society (SWWS) under the theme, “Post pandemic-forging towards a resilient and sustainable Community,” was held at Losami village in Phek district.
Chairman of Nagaland Empowerment of People through Economic Development (NEPED), Kevechutso Doulo graced the inaugural session as special guest.
In his address, Doulo said women have in them the power to change the society to let it develop, and women should play a proactive role to address to be problems that the society face to develop and progress.
He stressed on the need to empower women for a society to progress while he hailed the women from Secheku area taking up and venturing into businesses and stated that it is bringing about changes crediting their efforts and also urged them to strive.
The chairman also pointed out the need to start honesty from their homes and do away with manipulation of date of birth and bogus drawing of scholarships, while he expounded the role of women for a society to progress.
Ahead of the general election which is due in 2023, Doulo he told women not be construed by false propagandas intermixing religion with politics while he also encourage the women beget trust, appreciation and encouragement to bring change.
Earlier, Rekha Rose Dukru executive member Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) shared greetings and stressed on the need for the people to elect a leader who is responsible, clean and have passion to work for the people, stating the endorsement of CPO for clean election emphasising that women folk can bring about change and it should start from them.
She also stressed on the to empower women and urged them to be truthful.
Earlier, presidential address was delivered by Kozou Lasuh, president of SWWS, welcome song was presented by Kholou Mekrisuh and a folk melody was presented by Sakraba Women Society.
The programme was chaired by Sarhu Letro while welcome address was delivered by SWWS General Secretary Dezele Thopi, invocation prayer was said by Thunolu Chirhah, Associate pastor of CTBC and benediction by Dune Lea.
Later in the workshop, Assistant Development Commissioner, Government of Nagaland Kezunyipeu Lasuh was the resource person.
