Kohima, November 19: Debutant Sechü-Zubza Football Club today moved into the semi-finals of the 25th Classic Cup organized by Classic Club Kohima at local ground here.
SZFC, which has been gaining fame in the game and already emerged champion of Kohima Football League, edged out visitors United Falcon Club Medziphema in the last quarter final match 4-3.
It was skipper for SZFC Rhitsho Mero’s day in the field as he scored all the four goals to take the team ahead and also remained the highest scorer of the tourney with 11 goals. He opened the account through a penalty shot in the 16th minute awarded due to a handball by UFCM defender Vitolu Yepthomi. He netted his second in the 23rd minute through a header off Petevizo Kezieo cross.
UFC Medziphema got an opportunity in the 31st minute as Kikrukhirelie Kuotsu flicked a cross for Diezievituo Vasa but missed the shot.
Taking advantage of the easy play of rivals, United Falcon did minimize the score in the 33rd minute through Kikrukhirelie Kuotsu. However, Rhitsho found his hat-trick to lead the first half 3-1.
Three minutes into the second half, a handball by SZFC defender cost them heavily as the referee awarded a penalty and Kikrukhrielie converted it for UFCM.
The 53rd minute witnessed Rhitsho Mero converting a penalty for his fourth goal after a handball by rival defender increasing the tally to 4-2. He also took the fourth penalty in the 70th minute as defender tackled SZFC player in the danger zone but this time, his shot was saved by UFCM goal-keeper Dziesengulie Kire.
Thereafter, coming from the substitute bench UFCM’s Inoto Ayemi scored his first and third for the team in the 72nd minute.
