Kohima, November 21: Former champions of Kohima Football League and debutants Sechü-Zubza Football Cup entered the final of the ongoing 25th Classic Cup organized by Classic Club Kohima at local ground here.
Playing the second semi-final, Sechü-Zubza FC thrashed two times champions (1995 and 1998) of Classic Cup and five times runners-up – New Market XI by three goals to nil.
Dominating the game, Sechü-Zubza FC made continuous attacks but finally broke the deadlock through Visalie Mezhü in the 23rd minute while Daveikho doubled it in the 39th minute.
The former champions New Market XI also tried their best to remain in the game and did make some penetration into the rival zone but lacked finishing while in the 40th minute Kezhose Mathew got a free chance but his shot went over the cross bar to go into the break trailing by two goals.
After the lemon break, both teams continued to make attacks and counter attacks while in the process New Market midfielder Achamo came one on one with rival custodian Medophrezo Kezieo and the ball headed for the nets but defender Vikethozo Zhotso cleared it to safety.
With neither side able to make any further decisive move, it was skipper Rhitsho Mero striking the third goal for the team off a corner kick from substitute player Khiuwangbo Zeliang in the 81st minute to move into the final of the tournament.
In the final clash scheduled for 1:30 pm on Saturday, debutant Sechü-Zubza FC will clash with Puliebadze Club, Jotsoma.
