24th Classic Cup: Fore Runner Thizama, Head Hunters win

Kohima, November 5: Fore Runner Thizama and Head Hunters Jakhama registered win in today’s match of the 24th Classic Cup organized by Classic Club at Kohima local ground here.
In a close first match, Fore Runner Thizama came from behind to defeat Chizami United Football Club 4-2 via tie-breaker after the teams were locked 1-1 in the stipulated 60 minutes play.
The first half went in vain with both sides unable to make any breakthrough while Chizami United FC opened the account in the 42nd minute through Enebi Thopi but Fore Runners responded with the equalizer in the 50th minute through Lima Kumzuk.
The tie-breaker went comfortably in favour of Fore Runners with its players striking four out of five shots while Chizami United managed only two.
Playing a lopsided second match of the day, Head Hunters Jakhama humiliated Kohima Royal Kicks by 8 goals to nil, which is the highest score of the tournament so far.
Rhitsho Mero became the scored hat-trick scorer of the tournament as he scored the first goal in the first minute and doubled it in the 13th minute. Before the break Chinsha Phom also scored a brace with his goals coming in 19th and 26th minute of the game. After the break, Khekiho Chisho increased the tally to five in the 35th minute while Rhitsho scored his hat-trick and sixth goal for the team in 40th minute. Thereafter, it was Petevizo Kezieo adding his two goals in 44th and injury added time to end the game.
Aiyezo of Head Hunters was penalized for unsporting behaviour in the 17th minute.
