Kohima, November 10: United V&S from Dimapur today became the last team to book a quarter final berth at the ongoing edition of Classic Cup organised by Classic Club Kohima on the theme “Live it up” at Kohima Local ground here.
United V&S comfortably blanked King’s Football Club by 4 goals.
United V&S could have opened the account in the very first minute but a header from Laiwang from inside the box off a corner from Medeuonituo rebounded from the cross bar while the shot taken Katovi went wide off for a goal kick.
In the 8th minute too, Laiwang’s shot was thwarted by rival custodian Wapang while in 12th minute he hit the cross bar. Making their first attack, King’s FC striker Keneinguzo’s right footer was blocked by custodian Ikiho.
Nonetheless, King’s defender Thejakhrielie pulling down Laiwang inside the danger zone in the 28th minute and the referee awarded a penalty which was neatly converted by Meduoneeituo.
After the lemon break, King’s defender Neingureituo moved into the attacking stride and almost found the equalizer in the 32nd minute but was denied by V&S custodian Ikiho while also pushed an excellent free kick from Keneinguzo for a corner in the 43rd minute.
However, buoyed with the first half lead, V&S doubled the margin through Kuhein in 45th minute which was tripled by Laiwang in 47th minute and Souhiompou sealed the score board with the fourth in the injury added time of the match.
Katovi of V&S was the only player to be penalised for unsporting behavior in the 51st minute of the game.
