Kohima, November 8: Fore Runner Football Club Thizama and Head Hunters Jakhama booked their berth for quarter finals of the ongoing 24th Classic Cup organized by Classic Club Kohima at Local Ground here on the theme “Live it up”.
Playing the first match of the day, Fore Runners FC Thizama won against Phoenix FC by 3-1.
Lima scored two goals – first and third for Fore Runners in 8th and 33rd minute while Seyiekhrietuo scored the second goal in the24th minute. The only goal for Phoenix FC came in the dying minutes of the match through Thejaseto.
In the second match of the day, Head Hunters, Jakhama drubbed Zhafüna Jr FC by 12 goals to nil, the highest goals scored in a single match in Classic Cup.
Khuanjang, Chingsho and Rhitsho Mero scored a hat-trick each.
Khuanjang opened the floodgates in 6th minute and scored the second and fourth, 3rd hat-trick of the tourney, in the 10th and 20th minute. Chingsho started with the third goal in 19th minute and went on to score three more in the 7th, 8th and 48th minutes of play to become the fourth hat-trick scorer. Rhitsho Mero scored his first and ninth for the team in 39th minute while also adding fifth hat-trick of the tourney in 45th and 58th minutes.
Hranglen and Haotinmang also scored a goal each in 29th and 48th minutes of play.
Earlier on Wednesday, Dejavü Edition Football Club and Naga Jaguars became the first two teams to book their quarter final berth. Dejavu Edition defeated Kohima Bible College 5-0, while Naga Jaguars FC blanked Samaritan FC by 3 goals.
