SC wants NRC final list to be out by July 31

Guwahati, April 29: The Supreme Court (SC) has issued a directive that National Register of Citizens (NRC) staff in Assam assigned for election duties be redeployed back immediately for working specifically on the citizens’ register which should be published – by hook or by crook – by July 31, 2019. GUWAHATI, April 29: Eight gold biscuits weighing over 1 kg were seized by GRP from Guwahati railway station here on Sunday. GRP also held a man, identified as Harish Mahmood, for who was carrying the gold biscuits. Superintendent of Railway Police (SRP) HK Das said, "During a routine check, Guwahati GRP today recovered eight gold biscuits from the possession of Mahmood who was travelling in the Kamrup Express. 3 still untraceable after Sunday’s boat capsize in Manipur

Imphal, April 29:Rescue teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are continuing the search operation to trace three persons missing since Sunday after their boat capsized during a storm in the reservoir of Mapithel dam in Kamjong district of Manipur. “So far there is no report of any recovery,” said an official of NDRF when contacted on phone on Monday.
