2 youths surrender after man dies in brawl, arrested


Kohima, Apr 29: Two persons have been arrested after a 37-year old man died in a brawl outside a booze joint in Kohima on Monday.
Police sources said the victim identified as Nusato Swuro (37), son of Kuhukhwvyi Swuro of Chesezu village was allegedly beaten to death by some persons outside a booze joint in D-Block Kohima following a scuffle between them at around 5 pm.
The victim was rushed to Oking Hospital but doctor declared him brought dead, sources said. As per initial investigation, blood stains were found at the incident site while bruises were found on the victim’s back, sources said.
Police said that the two accused identified as Neilalie Loucu-ü (21), son of Thepfusalie Loucu-ü of Zhadima village and a student of BA-II along with Kikhruhrieto Venyo (21), son of Venuzo Venyo of Thevopisu village went to police station to report the incident and surrendered.
Learning about the incident, angry mob gathered outside North Police Station here but intervention of leaders and elders from the victim’s village and IR personnel controlled the situation from escalating further.
Police said FIR was lodged by Chesezu Welfare Association, Kohima and a case has been registered while investigation is in progress.
