Dimapur, May 4: Chumukedima Higher Secondary School and Police Central School has been selected for the Student Police Cadet programme, an initiative of MHA ministry, to be monitored by the State Police which is basically a programme for youth development to instill confidence amongst the students.
Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, Keveka Kevin Zehol handed over cash assistance to the Principals of these two selected schools to undertake the programme.
He also advised them to make a close observation of the SPC trained students to see the improvement and difference amongst the selected students.
Additional DCP, (Crime) Relo while explaining the concept of SPC, informed that under this programme students of class 8 and 9 will be selected and trained together by the Police with assistance from the selected schools, to boost their confidence and make them responsible and law abiding citizens. 44 selected students from Police Central school Chumukedima and 40 students from Chumukedima Higher Secondary School will be trained for 2 years and will be given certificates after completion of training, he informed.
Relo also informed that SPC programme was introduced in January 2019 with the nodal officer in the rank of IG. He also informed that the programme would function under the supervision of state level and district level committee members.
MHA will closely monitor the programme and for which a team from Delhi will be arriving Nagaland on Tuesday to visit the selected schools. All together 15 schools from Nagaland as been selected for the SPC programme the DCP informed.
