2 held for stealing rice bags

Dimapur, July 7: Dimapur Police arrested 2 persons identified as Ikusa Aye (20 yrs) and Puloka Aye (30 yrs) on criminal charges of stealing bags of rice from a shop in Diphupar area, after their car met with an accident during an escape attempt on July 3 last.


On further enquiry, it came to light that the arrested individuals on multiple occasions in Diphupar, Chumoukedima and Kuda village had used the same modus operandi, wherein on the pretext of buying rice from a shop, they would first load their car with rice bags with the help of the unsuspecting shopkeeper, after which at an opportune moment, they would flee with the rice laden vehicle. In this regard cases have been registered in Diphupar Police Station and East Police Station Dimapur respectively.
1 arrested with pistol
On July 6, Dimapur Police arrested one person identified as Torin Tikhir (25 yrs) for illegal possession of a one .22 caliber pistol with three live rounds from Padumpukhuri area.
During the initial enquiry, the arrested individual revealed that he had borrowed the small arm from one person in order to impress his female friend. A case has been registered at East Police Station Dimapur.


On the same day, one bike and one scooty stolen from Dimapur was recovered by the investigation team of Sub-Urban PS from Nagaon, Assam with the assistance of Nagaon Police, Assam.
