
DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 8: Two residents of Dimapur have filed a public interest litigation (PIL) in the Kohima Bench of Gauhati High Court seeking a directive to Nagaland Government to form the State Food Commission.
“This is a PIL praying for direction for constitution of State Food Commission as provided under Section 16 of the National Food Security Act, 2013, whose duties among others is to monitor and evaluate the implementation of the Act in relation to the State, and also for a direction to place the list of all the identified eligible households to receive benefits under the Act in the public domain and to display the same prominently as provided under Section 11 of the same Act”, stated a Court document.
On September 7, the Court was informed that the Counsel for the State respondents was yet to file the counter-affidavit.
As prayed for, a Bench comprising Justices Parthivjyoti Saikia and Marli Vankung listed the matter to be heard after four weeks in order to allow the Counsel to file the affidavit.
