2-day Rüsoma Orange Fest on Jan 24 & 25

Kohima, January 22: The two-day 4th edition of Orange Festival of Rüsoma Village is set to be held at the Rüsoma Local Ground on January 24 and 25.
Rüsoma Village is situated in the Northern region of Kohima district and is 12 km away from the capital town.
Addressing a press conference, Orange Festival organizing committee spokesperson Kekhrie Pfukha said the inaugural function on January 24 at 10 am will be graced by Minister for Horticulture & Women Resource Development Salhoutuonuo Kruse.
The next two days will be filled with delightful activities, vibrant performances, and an abundance of delicious oranges, he said.
From traditional folk music to modern music performances, from local artisanal crafts to culinary delights, there is something for everyone to enjoy, he said.
“We are honored to welcome visitors from far and wide to join us in this celebration as we are religiously committed to providing an unforgettable experience that will leave a lasting impression on all who attend,” he said.
He informed that last year the village had earned around Rs 40 lakh while this year they are expecting an income of more than Rs 53 lakh.
The Orange Festival celebrates our agricultural prowess and the unity and resilience of our community, he said.
Also, spokesperson Khriezotuolie Chase said that the seven khels of the village has around 28700 orange sapling trees under plantation while 14100 are bearing fruits totaling to 42800 orange trees within the village.
Farmers’ collaborator Keluovilie Bier informed that around 26 stalls will be exhibiting and selling oranges priced at Rs 100 to Rs 130 per kg while there will be many stalls for other products, including agricultural, handloom, blacksmith produced in the village.
