KOHIMA, JULY 29: Same old story for Nagaland Assembly, as the 2-day monsoon session is again all set to have a long-winded discussion on Naga political issue.
Sources said the 2-day session, scheduled to begin on August 3, will discuss the current Naga political negotiation between the Union Government and Naga outfits.
On the first day, the House will have a marathon deliberation to weigh the current peace process and impending solution. This will be the first deliberation on Naga political issue after the formation of Parliamentary Core Committee on Naga political issue, which consists of all elected Members and two MPs.
After disbanding the Joint Legislators’ Forum (JLF), the Core Committee was formed with Chief Minister as Convener and Deputy Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition as Co-conveners. This committee will play the role of facilitator like that of JLF ~ old wine in new bottle, according to political pundits.
Recently the Naga People’s Front (NPF) expressed its desire to join the ruling People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) to give a united push to the Naga peace process.
Apart from discussion on Naga political issue there will also be Question Hour and other businesses on August 3 and 5. The Assembly will also discuss Covid situation in the state. (Page News Service)
