Kohima, March 9: The first National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) Self Help Groups (SHGs) conference of Japfüphi Thenuko Block Level Federation (JTBLF) under Rural Development Block Jakhama, Kohima was held today at Kigwema Council Hall.
The conference was organised and finance by Start-up Village Entrepreneurship Programme (SVEP), Jakhama block and was supported by Block Mission Management Unit, Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM), Jakhama block.
SVEP is a non-farming programme which was launched in 2014 and implemented first in Nagaland among the North Eastern states, said the Block Programme Manager SVEP, NSRLM RD Jakhama, Selabeituo Theünuo.
Informing that till-date the programme is being implemented in Jakhama and Chumukedima blocks, he said the programme will be implemented in rest of the districts by the end of 2019.
The main target of the programme is to encourage and help the unemployed youth to take up their livelihood by imparting training on various skills business activities. ‘Presently we have trained and finance 939 beneficiaries’, said Theünuo.
President of JTBLF Jakhama block, Hovisale Khatso in her presidential address informed that under Jakhama block, there are 12 village Level Organization (VLO) with 227 Self Help Groups (SHGs) along with 2227 SHGs members.
During inaugural session, Deputy Secretary of Horticulture Department, Vikhweno Chale encouraged the beneficiaries to work hard with upmost dedication and sincerity. She urged them not to go for easy money in collecting donation.
Expressing that the banks are reluctant to give bank loan to the people for not being sincere in repaying loans, she encouraged the beneficiaries on timely repayment of the loan.
It was informed that so far Rs 1,54,50,600 have been sanctioned till-date while Rs 68 lakh is under process through the scheme.
Sweyekul and Virielie Thaprü shared their success story on availing the facility for taxi service and saloon respectively.
Short speeches were also delivered by Programme Manager of NSRLM Chiephobozou block Vitshu Yhome, Chairman VCC Kigwema Siechalie Yhoshü and Programme Manager BMMU, NSRLM Jakhama Vitseituo Mephfuo.
Block Programme manager SVEP, NSRLM RD Jakhama Selabeituo Theünuo, Managing Director, Kohima Old Age Home Neithonuo Liegise and Head of Department of Sociology, Kohima College Kohima Dr. Kekhriesenuo Christina were the resource person during business session.
The programme was chaired by Lebu Luho, invocation by Zhavi Kire, Pastor, Kigwema Baptist Church. Special song was presented by Pete VLO and Kedakelie VLO while vote of thanks by Neilakuonuo Livi.
