Kohima, May 26: G Sports Football Club today emerged toppers of Pool-A in the ongoing league quarter final round of 1st Kohima Super Cup played at Indira Gandhi Stadium Kohima.
In a closely contested last league quarter final match of Pool-A, G Sports FC came from behind to hold New Market FC at 1-1 draw.
New Market found an early lead through Limakumzuk Ao in the 10th minute to lead the first half but G Sports returned with the equalizer in the 60th minute with no further decisive move from either side till the final whistle.
With the draw, both the teams earned seven points each as they had won their two earlier matches as well. However, the organizers in consultation with the teams decided the table topper by draw of lot, wherein G Sports emerged winner of Pool-A.
Both G Sports and New Market entered the semi-finals as the two leaders in the pool.
In the second match of the day, Hurricane Boys Phesama blanked Sechü Football Club Association by two goals earning their first three points. Neikehiezo and Sisi Chuse scored a goal each in the 40th and 55th minute respectively.
However, both Hurricane and Sechü are out of the tourney.
