1st CSA Meet 2019 concludes

Chizami, December 20: The 1st Chizami Sports Association Meet 2019 came to a colourful close on December 18 at Chizami local ground with fireworks lighting up the Chizami sky. Dr Hovithal Sothu, Project Director, TaFMA, YRS, Kohima, graced the occasion as the guest speaker, which also marks the culmination of the year long golden jubilee celebration of the Chizami Youth Society.
Dr HovithalSothu encouraged the youth to be professionals in whatever work they do and to develop soft skills which can take Nagas forward.
Colo Mero, president, Chizami Sports Association (CSA) informed that the association was established in 2019 with the aim to develop professional sports and create career opportunities to serious sportspersons. The CSA will be committed to grassroots sports training, coaches and referee education and sports infrastructure development. There are over 500 members registered under the CSA.
The first CSA meet saw enthusiastic participation from the six khels in four major events namely football, basketball, volleyball and cross country race which were conducted for both men and women respectively.
Emphasising on the importance of transforming communities through sports, a combined sports fellowship was held on December 15 with Zaseto Sasü, Chaplain, Mt Sinai Higher Secondary School Kohima as speaker. The closing day was also marked by an exhibition match between Chizami Sports Association and Chizami Youth Society.
