
Dimapur, April 12: With the detection of first COVID-19 positive case from Dimapur at Guwahati Medical College & Hospital on April 12, the state Government Monday said that the patient is a resident of Marwari Patti and the area along with Murgi Patti and GS Road have been sealed by the district administration and police.
Dimapur police has erected barricades near Dhobinullah and pitched tents for police personnel with the help of Assam Rifles. The entire area has been cordoned off restricting movement of people and vehicles.
Marwari patty of Dimapur has been placed under “quarantine zone” and all entry and exit from the area has been blocked with heavy police barricades, sources said.
Principal Secretary, Home, Abhijit Sinha informed that the wholesale market at GS Road Dimapur and retail shops at Marwari Patti and Ghorapatty would remain closed until further orders.
However, it was not clear whether retail shops selling grocery items and vegetable shops would be opened in other areas in Dimapur, which are not sealed by the district administration and police.
Meanwhile, Zion Hospital Dimapur where the patient had received treatment before leaving for Guwahati has also been sealed.
